He has been a Lazio player since coming from AC Perugia in 2005, having previously been with SSC Napoli, UC Sampdoria, Salernitana Sport and Calcio Catania. Guglielmo Stendardo (born 6 May 1981) is an Italian football defender currently playing for Juventus in Italy, on loan from S.S. Lazio.Stendardo began his career at SSC Napoli in 1997 and has played for a number of top Italian football clubs, Sampdoria included. A powerful defender, Stendardo stands 190 cm tall and weighs 89 kg. After a 3-2 defeat to the hands of Juventus, Stendardo had a falling out with Lazio manager Delio Rossi and demanded a transfer in the January 2008 transfer window.Juventus have officially announced the signing [1] of Stendardo on a 6-month loan deal, with an option to buy him outright in the summer. However, S.S. Lazio have already extended his contract by 5 years, thereby ensuring his stay in Rome in the immediate future. Stendardo is expected to make his debut on Wednesday in the Old Lady’s crucial Coppa Italia quarter-final second leg showdown against Inter Milan thereby providing much needed relief to the depleted Juventus back-line.The 26-year-old will, however, miss out on the upcoming Serie A encounters against Cagliari and Udinese as he is suspended.
